What is a Cabinet?

Rack Cabinets are cabinets where servers and other hardware working with servers are mounted, usually in server rooms, large-scale areas such as data centers, and are positioned in a healthy way in terms of working structures. The most commonly used standard is defined as 19″. The 19” standard means that Rack Mount devices can be mounted inside the cabinet. Non-19” equipment is positioned on different connection types or shelf modules. Rack Cabinets are one of the most important network components used to provide easy and safe access to network devices and to protect the relevant equipment. Rack Cabinets are used not only for servers and systems, but also for maintaining the network equipment of companies. 4U / 7U / 9U / 12U and 16U small cabinets are preferred for these equipment.  

How to Choose a Rack Cabinet?

When choosing Rack Cabinet products, you must first determine the dimensions of all the equipment you will position in the cabinet. The devices to be mounted inside the cabinet are hardware whose dimensions are given by their manufacturers. There are 19” standards for servers, so the U (height measurement) and depth measurement of the cabinet for servers are important. Generally, when choosing a cabinet for a server, the depth of the server should be known. Especially a server with a depth of 60cm (600mm) becomes approximately 63cm (630mm) with a 2-3cm length created by the network and power cables from the back. For this reason, when choosing a cabinet, the depth should be considered as 800mm, not 600mm, and a cabinet selection should be made according to the approval. For a server with a depth of 800mm (80cm), a server with a depth of 1000mm (100cm) is required. Once the height is determined, you can consider 600mm, 800mm or 1000mm alternatives for depth. How to Choose Rack Cabinet Accessories?

In Rack Cabinets, accessories can be selected according to the height, width and depth dimensions of the cabinet. The heat and air circulation of the devices to be positioned inside the cabinet should be taken into account. For example, into a 42U 19” Rack Cabinet measuring 600mmx1000mm; If all or some of the hardware such as Server, UPS device, Switch, Firewall, Modem, Router will be positioned, it is important to choose the Fan Module as 6-Thermostat Fan Module or 4-Thermostat Fan Module in order to ensure healthy air circulation. If the Display and Keyboard will be used in the cabinet, a Movable Shelf (drawer) suitable for the depth dimensions of the cabinet can be used. Again, depending on the number of devices positioned in the cabinet, 3-Fuse Group Socket (PDU), 6-Fuse Group Socket (PDU), 9-Fuse Group Socket (PDU), 12-Fuse Group Socket (PDU) can be used. Since the group sockets are 19”, you can determine the number as you wish. Additionally, Patch Panels can be used to terminate your network cables, Organizers (with brushed or brushless hooks) can be used between Switch and Patch panels, Closing Panels can be used to make the gaps in the cabinet look tidy, and Vertical Organizers (on the right and left sides) can be used to prevent cable clutter.
